June 6, 2017 6:30 pm Town Board Business Meeting

And 7:00 pm Regular Town Board Meeting

Business Meeting: The Town Board Business Meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. Present was Chairperson Banaszak, Supervisor #1 Sotka, Clerk/Treasurer Tarmann, absent was Supervisor Mueller. The Board discussed monthly expenditures and revenues. A motion to adjourn was made by Sotka, seconded by Banaszak at 6:42 p.m.

1. Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

2. Regular Town Board Meeting was called to order by Chairman Dan Banaszak at 6:59 pm, present was Chairman Banaszak, Clerk/Treasurer Tarmann, Supervisor Sotka, Supervisor Mueller, and members of the public.

3. Mueller made a motion to approve the agenda, 2nd by Sotka and carried.

4. Motion by Sotka to approve the minutes of May 2, 2017, Regular Board Meeting and Special Board Meeting of Board of Review to Adjourn May, 25 2017, Special Town Board Meeting Municipal Court Ordinance May 25, 2017 and Special Town Board Meeting Land Use and Mobile Home Variance May 30, 2017, 2nd by Mueller and carried.

5. Clerk/Treasurer Tarmann reported the checking account had a balance of $552,443.81. Checks issued were #21316-21364 for $18,492.95, void check #21315 and electronic debits taxes and retirement benefits of $2,166.35. Sotka made a motion to approve the financial report, 2nd by Mueller, and carried.

6. Public comment – Public comments on road signs at the corner of Right of Way Road near Betty Burmeister, Pioneer Road, Lake Road and Ferndale road were brought to the attention of the Board with the issues being safety and obstruction of view.

7. Ken Marcusen asked several questions concerning the Town of Lake limit being 10 tons, the same as the county weight limit. There was also a concern of letting contractors travel the town roads while weight limits were still on for the rest of the public. It was recommended for the next spring season to take this concern into consideration for special permits to be filed before the weight restrictions are allowed.

8. There was no Planning Commission meeting to report. A future Planning Commission meeting will be set for the appointment of a new Chairperson requested by Chairperson Sotka.

9. There were no Land surveys to review.

10. There were Business Licenses and Liquor Operator licenses to approve. The list of names includes: Loopy's in Loomis, Timberline Resort, and Rustic Bar and Supper club

11 The Ski Cats requested a Fireworks permit. Paperwork for the permit was to be given to the Fire Department with the date and times of the event and the company hired.

12. Road signs for the corner of Right of Way Road and Sumac Lane were discussed with a right hand no stop on Right of Way. Two stop signs on Pioneer making a four way at the intersection of Pioneer and Right of Way Road. Horse riding signs for the roads of Pioneer, Right of Way and Two Mile Road. A notice in the paper was requested for the public for information and notice of the signage. A motion by Sotka was made for the signs, 2nd by Mueller, and carried.

13. The Municipal Court Committee made a recommendation at the May 31, 2017 meeting to continue with $100 per member to be paid for the Judge’s salary, and to consider limiting the number of members to join the Municipal Court. A motion by Sotka to pay the $100 for the Judge’s salary with review of the membership based upon caseload. Seconded by Banaszak, motion carried 2 yes and 1 no Mueller.

14. Chairperson Banaszak gave an update on the Public Works project with the start of ground breaking to begin. Bayland Construction requested a weekly 7:30 am Monday meeting with a member of the Board for information and discussion of the project. The late spring might delay the finishing date of August 31, 2017 by 2 weeks. Chairperson Banaszak also reported on the Ferndale Road project with the assurance from Coleman Engineering that the road specs met all the state standards.

15. Damage to the mower tractor glass door resulted in shattered glass. A quote for safety glass to replace the door was for $1,800 was brought to the Board for information.

16. Fire Dept Report. The switch over to Mabis was completed.

17. The road report was given by Chairperson Banaszak with repairs to the mower, the one ton work truck, road patching and road side mowing.

18. There was correspondence from Clerk/Treasurer Tarmann concerning updates to the town computer and a request to get a quote for an external hard drive backup system for the software, Quick books data, and email from North Computer owner Jeff Counard.

19. Closed session: Pursuant to Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(a) Personnel, the Town Board convened to closed session. Roll call vote was taken with the following votes: yes- Sotka, yes-Mueller and yes-Banaszak. The Town Board reconvened into open session at 9:00 p.m. with no action taken.

20. A motion to adjourn by Mueller, seconded by Sotka, carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:01 p.m.
