and 7:00 pm Regular Town Board Meeting
Business Meeting: The Town Board Business Meeting was called to order at 6:38 p.m. Present was Chairperson Dan Banaszak, Supervisor #1Cory Sotka, Supervisor #2 Travis Mueller & Clerk/Treasurer Linda Tarmann, and members of the public. The Board discussed monthly expenditures and revenues. A motion to adjoin at 6:46 p.m. by Mueller seconded by Sotka and carried.
7:00 p.m. Regular Town Board Meeting Agenda
- The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
- The regular Town Board meeting was called to at 7:00 p.m. by Chairperson Dan Banaszak. Present was Banaszak, Sotka, Mueller,Tarmann and members of the public.
- A Motion to approve agenda by Travis Mueller seconded by Cory Sotka and carried.
- A motion to approve the meeting minutes from July 11, 2017 Regular Town Board Meeting and Special Town Board Meeting Personnel July 20, 2017 by Travis Mueller, seconded by Cory Sotka and carried.
- A motion to approve the Treasurer’s financial report with check numbers #21417-21462 for $113,197.13 and vouchers #21463-21467 for $5,204.70 and EFT for $2,774.97, seconded by Travis Mueller, seconded by Cory Sotka and carried.
- Public Comment. Question about the July 20, 2017 personnel meeting why it wasn’t posted on line because of the computers being maintained by the North Computer service at that time.
- Planning Commission Report. No reports.
- Review & approval of Land Surveys. No reports.
- Review & Approval of Business Licensing (Liquor & Operators) Motion to approve Kiarah Betka and Alexis Durkee for operator licenses by Travis Mueller, seconded by Cory Sotka and carried.
- Short term disability and health insurance. We received two (2) letters stating that the town could not apply w/o two (2) or more qualifying employees for the health insurance. A question was to check with Marinette County for coverage through their plan. Jim Pickett is looking into quotes for the short term disability insurance.
- Employee Handbook update. A motion to approve the employee handbook as amended by Dan Banaszak, seconded by Travis Mueller and carried.
- A motion to approve Rick Olive as the public works employee by Travis Mueller, seconded by Cory Sotka and carried with the start date of August 7, 2017.
- Northwood’s Recycling Coalition update. A meeting on the final information for recycling changes will be held at the Stephenson Town Hall with other quotes from other companies on August 21, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. JNS brought it our attention the garbage has more than residential refuse. It was suggested that the bags will be refused with a sticker placed on the garbage for the reason of recyclables or landfillgarbage. Cory Sotka suggested we attend the Coalition meeting and then set a special meeting regarding the recycling and garbage. Dan Banaszak will contact the Middle Inlet Chairman to see what they provide for garbage service.
- Salary Municipal Judge update. A letter from Clerk Charles Stanek was sent to the Board concerning the confusion regarding the salary for the Municipal Court Judge. It was suggested to contact the Town of Stephenson to find out if there is going to a meeting concerning the salary issue. Dan Banaszak said he would contact Kevin Solway concerning the Judge’s salary.
- Fire number on private property. Chairperson Banaszak had a phone conversation with Attorney Coggins concerning fire number placement on private that was not on the correct property. The Pfankuch property had a fire call but because the fire number was not on the right property, the fire department was not able to locate the call immediately. It is the home owner/land owner responsibility to keep the sign clear from brush for a clear view for the fire department.
- Ferndale Road project update and Public Works building update. Dan Banaszak stated the road project is moving forward with culverts to be installed next week. The public works building still has a finish date of September 27, 2017 with the corresponding change orders.
- Fire Dept. Report. Donny Mansfield gave the fire report stating there were two (2) fire department calls for the month of July.
- Road Report. Dan reported road work grading including, ditch mowing and patchwork repair.
- Correspondence. Contact R&R Assessing concerning the date for the Board of Review.
Call from Jay Walters on Maple Crest concerning trailers and campers. There is no acreage size because there isn’t any zoning for the Town of Lake. The Mobile Home Ordinance does address the issue of septic disposal, but issue a permit to park the trailer a longer period of time. Tiny homes are also included in the Mobile Home ordinance.
- A motion to adjourn by Travis Mueller, seconded by Cory Sotka at 8:17 p.m. and carried.
