Pledge of Allegiance
- Call to order. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Present was Banaszak, Sotka, Tarmann and members of the public. Absent was Mueller.
- Approval of agenda. A motion to approve the agenda by Sotka seconded by Banaszak and carried.
- Approval of meeting minutes from January 2, 2018 Regular Town Board Meeting. A motion to approve the minutes from January 2, 2018 regular Town Board Meeting by Sotka and seconded by Banaszak and carried.
- Approval of Treasurer’s financial report. A motion to approve the Treasurer’s financial report by Banaszak seconded by Sotka and carried.
- Public Comment .Tony Moriva would like to have the Agenda posted on Pioneer RoadMiles Kressel would like to know what the new recycling requirements will be when the Town of Stephenson has it final meeting. A request was made to address abandoned structures in the Town of Lake.
- Planning Commission Report. The Planning Commission reviewed a certified survey map from Rob Kamps and Jeff Lieuwen prior to the regular meeting. There were no problems with the survey and recommended approval to the Town Board.
- Review & approval of Land SurveysJeff Lieuwen presented the certified survey map and explained the separation of tax parcels was for mortgage purposes. There are separate fire numbers and driveways. A motion to approve the land survey Sotka, seconded by Banaszak and carried.
- Review & Approval of Business Licensing (Liquor & Operators) none
- Fire Dept ReportThe fire department responded to 4 calls. Bill Retza reported the other fire departments are experiencing a low number of volunteers for local fire departments.
- Public Works Road Report. Rick Olive, Public Works employee, worked on snow plowing, met with an insurance representative to add equipment to the insurance policy and installed shelving in public works building. Continually plowed and sanded on roads for the past month. Rick help rekey the fire department doors. The public works building is maintaining heat levels and everything seems fine inside and outside.
- Approval of part-time public works person. A motion was made by Sotka to approve Jeff Olive as a part-time public works employee, seconded by Banaszak and carried.
- Approval of part-time typist, convert Town Ordinance Manual to word document. The Town of Lake Ordinance Book is currently a pdf document and not easily updated with new information. If the board would approve the hiring of a typist to convert the document to a word document, new items can be easily inserted both for a printed copy and for on the website. A motion was made bySotka to approve Stacey Cooper as a part-time typist, seconded by Banaszak and carried.
- Approval of Election Official for 2018 -2019. A motion to approve Stacey Cooper as an election official for 2018-2019 election years by Banaszak seconded by Sotka and carried.
- 2018 Nature’s Edge Building Inspector - updated building inspector fees. A motion by Sotka seconded by Banaszak and carried to approve the new building inspection fee schedule for the building permit schedule.
- Update on Recycling. Dan Banaszak reported on the meeting with the Recycling Coalition. There is a benefit to stay with the Town of Stephenson for recycling on a per capita basis, and the Coalition would hold together possibly for one more year. The grants are determined on money that is available from the DNR, not on the amount of recycling tonnage.
- Quote on Truck #1 repairs. Dan Banaszak stated the dump box for the 2006 truck is rusting out. We contacted several companies for quotes for a 10 foot stainless steel box. We will have the quotes for the next regular board meeting.
- Birchwood Road project. Possible road projects for the 2018 road construction year were discussed. A committee meeting for road projects will be needed to approve projects for the summerDan Banaszak will be drafting a letter to land owners concerning the abandoned buildings in the Town of Lake and would like the item to be discussed at the committee meeting level. A tentative joint meeting of the Planning Commission and the Road Committee for the dates of February 26, 2018 for 1:00 pm.
- Correspondence ATV/UTV Ordinance from Marinette County was made available for review.
- Adjourn. A motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:08 p.m. was made by Sotka, seconded by Banaszak and carried.
