Pledge of Allegiance

  1. Call to order.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00p.m. by Banaszak. Present was Banaszak, Mueller, Sotka and Tarmann and members of the public.

  1. Approval of agenda.

       A motion was made to approve the agenda by Mueller seconded by Sotka and carried.

  1. Approval of meeting minutes from July 3, 2018 Reg. Town Board Meeting,

A motion was made to approve the July 3, 2018 Regular Town Board Meeting by Sotka seconded by Banaszak and carried.

  1. Approval of Treasurer’s financial report and vouchers

A motion to approve the financial report was made by Mueller seconded by Sotka and carried.

  1. Judge Morrison update on Marinette County

A report was presented by Judge Morrison on the state of the Drug Court, the Mental Health Court, Casa Advocate Program and Juvenile Court Project of Marinette County.

  1. Planning Commission Report  

The Planning Commission met at 6:45 p.m. on August 7, 2018 to discuss a variance request from Marshall Giese for buildings on Arrowhead Road. No issues were noted.

  1. Review & approval of Land Surveys

There were no certified survey maps to approve.

  1. Variance request for building on Arrowhead Road A motion was made by Mueller, seconded by Sotka and carried.
  1. Review & Approval of Business Licensing (Liquor & Operators)

There were no liquor licenses or operator licenses presented for approval.

  1. Fire Dept Report

Craig Caylor, Fire Chief, ISO Company rating was given to the Fire Dept. A plan to improve the ISO rating for the Town of Lake. Craig feels the Mabis system with mutual aid will help. Information on any studies for a creditable water source, and prove that we can shuttle the water at a rated speed per minute. Also, an estimate for replacement foam system for 710 truck for about $20,000.00 in Sept, 2018.

  1. Public Works Road Report /Salt and Sand Old Public Works Building

Rick Olive reported for road repair, truck maintenance, and estimates for repairs, haul brush, patching, mowing and any other maintenance necessary. Rick and Dan also measured the old public works building for Texas weights for 40 aprox. $25 per weight. Mueller Electric is going to get the electric moved in the building. Morton Salt will be supplying salt for the Town of Lake.

  1. 2018 Road Project Progress

Banaszak reported all the paving projects have been completed. Shouldering will be completed in September. Chip seal and crack fill will be completed before the end of the summer season. Chip Seal estimates for next year will be approximately for 10 miles of roads. The following years will again be road construction on the some of the worst roads in the Town.

  1. Final figure for disbanding Recycling Coalition

Final payout from the Coalition is 11, 400.09 for the disbanding the Near North woods Coalition.

  1. Close and combine savings account and certificate of deposit

We combined the two small savings accounts and the C.D. for an interest rate of $.01.

  1. Update on Truck and V-box

The contract was signed for the Service Truck with an estimated delivery of the end of November, 2018.

  1. Consideration to borrow for equipment through Board Of Commissioners

A motion was made by Sotka to pursue borrowing money through Debt for the one ton truck and the VBox for $75,000.00 seconded by Banaszak. Discussion from Mueller questioned was it feasible to only change the box instead of waiting and buying a new truck. 2 yes Sotka and Banaszak and 1no Mueller. We will get a quote for a 3 year or 5 year note for the September Board meeting.

  1. Sign Resolution 07-03-2018  Adopting Parliamentary Procedures

Signatures for adopted parliamentary procedures from the July 3, 2018 approval.

  1. Correspondence

The Quilting club gave a $100 donation to the Town of Lake.

Banaszak got labels for garbage that is refused on the pickup route JNS. A thousand labels for $389.00 to be printed by the Peshtigo Times.

Supervisor Chaikowski reported on several meetings she attended for the County. One visit was to an abandoned sight in Wausaukee. A tour at the Marinette County Fairgrounds on improvements.

  1. Public Comment

Miles Kressel requested on information on the abandoned building s that were contacted by mail. Banaszak stated two of the three properties are in a court process for removal. The owners were told that if the issues were not resolved the Town would contact its Attorney to further the process of removal.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 8:37 pm by Mueller seconded by Sotka and carried.
